The night of the Museums
This mural is for ‘The night of the Museums’ (La Nuit des Musées) and ‘Place aux Arts’ in Reims, France.
It was created in order to reinterpret a 12th century sculpture which is a major piece of the history of Reims and Saint-Remi Basilica. This sculpture of King Lothaire was beheaded during the French Revolution. At the same time, when the flames ravaged Notre-Dame de Paris and a few months after the destruction in the Arc de Triomphe, during the protests of yellow vests, i was called to demonstrate how the heritage survives voluntary or accidental destruction and becomes a colorful history.
The whole idea was to make a connection between the worlds of the museum and the streets’, the city’s heritage and graffiti. To combine the Middle Ages’ figuration and the 21st century’s abstraction.
